Born in 1979 to a french academic mother and an english architect father, Charles Anastase studied Political Sciences at the Lycée Charlemagne in Paris and began his career as an artist in 2002. His poignant pencil drawings were shown around the world in a series of exhibitions in Paris, Vienna, Tokyo and Mexico and appeared in prestigious magazines including Purple and Dazed and Confused. The culmination of this recognition was the use of his illustrations in a Calvin Klein advertising campaign.

Worn by clients as varied as Keira Knightley, Beth Ditto, Alexa Chung , Yoko Ono and rei kawakubo, Anastase's collections are inspired by the beauty of Victorian drawings that have long fascinated him. Described as semi-couture, his silhouettes are executed with a precision evocative of Savile Row tailoring and a painterly and playful hand with elements of naïveté and deconstruction.
